How to remove Write Protection for USB Drives connected to Windows 8?

Every usb drive I connect to my windows 8 PC, they have write protection which is set by operating system, but don't know how. I have not made any settings related to this function, this was there by default. I could copy and open the files from the external drives but I cannot add or paste or delete any files from the drive the reason is write protection enabled. How do I remove this setting?

The write protection on USB devices are created under two situations.
If the drive is virus infected, or if there is a switch that physically or logically protect write operation.

To elimnate virus infection effects, you need to use antivirus and clean the USB , then try write operation.

If physical switching off is used you have to find the switch and unlock it.

There is another way out there, the REGISTRY EDITING,

Press Windows Key + R, to enter RUN windows.
    Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE--SYSTEMS--CurrentControlSet--Control--Storage Device Policies.
If it is not found create a field StorageDevice Policies and create a new D-WORD(32bit) , Write Protect
Change the value of the WriteProtect to 0.
    Save , exit, reboot.

Another way is to format the USB drive but then the data will be lost.

    Hello Friend,
The Error pop out due to Virus attack or write Protection Enabled on USB device or May Locked USB drive. It mostly caused in windows 7, vista.

As you have to make Changes to registry editor to fix this Problem, follow steps to make it disappear.

    1) Tap on Start and type regedit then hit enter

    2) In registeditor window now, Navigate to :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l \StorageDevicesPolices

    3) Now, Right click Storagedevicespolices and select New > Dword and Name it as write Protect

    4) Edit write protect value and replace it with 0 and hit Ok.

If above mentioned not works then, try formatting USB drive after following above steps:

    1) Open CMD with administrative rights.

    2) type diskpart and hit enter

    3) type listdisk and hit enter

    4) Now, type select disk x (where x is the USB disk drive, you can replace x with your USB drive number)

    5) type attributes disk clear randonly and hit enter.

That's all, now problem clears out. you can paste or Delete files of your choice.

Hope this Trick works out, Thank you.
