To stop Apps from Autoconnecting do take few simple actions.

Instead of exiting those programs , systematically close the program by signing off.

Don't keep the wifi connection active, disconnect the wifi and connect only when required.

Any program which is signed off doesn't log in automatically.

    Hi there!!!!..
To stop this you have to "ON" the "Download over meter connection".

To start this use the following steps below:-

    1) Press "Windows + C" to open the charm bar.

    2) Now go to "Settings" then click on the "Change PC settings".

    3) In the settings click on the "Device" then click "ON" below the "Download Over meters connections".

Re: How to stop Windows 8 software and other apps from automatically connecting to internet?

    Hello there !!!

since all the application got to start themselves when you open your account,
this is because these application comes into the category of startup application.
and the startup application are those application which do not require the user permission to get executed.

so if you want not to start them then do follow the steps given :-

    1. open the run command (win+r)
    2. type >> msconfig.
    3. a dialogue box will opened there >> go to startup tab.
    4. there will be the list of all the application that start up when the windows start.
    5. so disable the application you don't want them to start.
    then click ok >>apply

    then reboot your system.
    your problem will be solved.

hope i am clear to you.
    thanks for posting in EALP.

I have Windows 8 Lenovo laptop. When I start the laptop (running on home Wi-Fi network) then the automatically the service and other apps such as Skype, mail etc. start connecting to the internet.
