The Touchpad Device Driver that was installed in your laptop is disabled by the Windows 8 as it had tried to install its own while installation, leading in to such a situation where access is not possible.Click START--CONTROL PANEL--SYSTEM AND SECURITY--DEVICE MANAGER--MICE AND ....--TOUCHPAD--DRIVER--UNINSTALL, and remove the existing driver which is non-functional.Log into www.hp.com/drivers , find the Touchpad Driver from the store, which is Windows 8, 32 bit or 64 bit complient, download the driver, install it in Windows 8 of your laptop.Reboot and check the Touchpad , it should have no issue any further.
