Windows 8 Protogon File System working in leaked builds?

Windows 8 is expected to have a new file system in addition to File Allocation Table (FAT), FAT32 and NTFS (New Technology File System).This new rumored file system is named as “Protogon”.Microsoft have not revealed anything about this file system yet.

Recently few folks over MDL used Windows 8 Build 7955 and somehow were able to format drives to Protogon file system.To transform Windows 8 partitions into Protogon , all you need to do is :

  1. Run Command prompt with administrator privileges
  2. Type “d: format DriveLetter: /FS:protogon /Q
  3. Press Enter

And that’s it.

/Q is designed to allow the quick version of the Protogon formatting

In fact, as it completes the Protogon formatting, Windows 8 provides the following warning message: “Please be advised that the underlying format may be incompatible with near-future versions.”
